About

The Department of Economics is active not only in teaching the syllabus prescribed by the University at the Under Graduate and Post Graduate level but also in developing the overall personality of the individual. For this the Department organizes several co-curriculum and extra curricular activities in which the students are encouraged to participate.

The Maharashtra Education Society's, AbasahebGarwareCollege has Started the Department Economics at the Under Graduate level in 1960 & the Post Graduate level in 1970. Since 2003, the department has also started the PostGraduateResearchCenter in Economics, affiliated to the PuneUniversity.

The Dept. also conducts an autonomous (University recognized) course, Postgraduate Diploma in Foreign Trade (PGDFT) for which there is an overwhelming response (80 students presently). This course is an evening course. of Pune

The Dept. is a University recognized Centre for Research in Economics. Presently there are 20 students registered for M.Phil. and 17 for Ph.D. of Pune.
